I like the imagery here. It's those transitions between "sets" that challenge moods and create disruptions...whether transitions from one meeting to the next, from a commute to your home, from a quiet 1:1 to a freshly arriving group.

There's an underlying soundtrack to all of our lives, but with a little awareness we can skip to the right spot on the playlist.

You are so right about over-communicating. I wrote a very similar piece on my blog http://hrscoops.wordpress.com and have been part of a couple of change initiatives in which the communication was lacking and rumors and speculation took over.
I think another important piece to remember is that we need to find many different ways of communicating. A memo or an email blast isn't going to work - include people in the communication chain in a number of different ways. Have departmental meetings to answer questions, use your Intranet (if your company has one), even little text messages to notify people of upcoming opportunities to have discussions...
Thanks for the article!

One of my favorite quotes is by Oscar Wilde that also happens to be very fitting to what you wrote here: "Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination " :)

John, your son reminds me of Jimmy Page with that Gibson Les Paul. When he needs a manager, Bert and I will help him out

u've tried to make it informative so I guess its turned out a bit long. But great 1st attempt - i think the trick with these long blogs would be to do it in the 'discovery channel" style - think adding supers etc would not make it seem long - but some great shots - the street ones - the cooking and i especially like the golf one! *wink*
